According to an article about Feng Shui, the position of my bed is screwing up my life. Mind you, I know basically nothing about Feng Shui. I know it has to do with positioning your crap in the best possible way to bring good energy into your space. Like your potted plants have to be facing south or something (I made that up Feng Shui people, relax). I have considered looking into it, just in case it works. Thing is, I'm no Martha Stewart. My idea of decorating is making sure the couch faces the TV and that beige really does go with everything. So rearranging my house to enhance my energy is just not on the top of the old priority list. But I just happened across this article and found out that my bed could be causing me some life issues. First, it's next to the bedroom door which is letting all my energy suck out into the hall. I placed it there because the downstairs bathroom is like two feet away and thus even more convenient than the master commode. That's how I plan things. On the good side, I'm perpendicular to the door. If my feet were facing it, that's bad because in Ye Olde Days they dragged your dead body out feet first. That's just creepy, and again it sucks energy from your feet or something. You also don't want a mirror facing your bed. That sucks your energy too. I remedied that a while back when I bought a new TV and put it where a mirror had been. I'd much rather watch that then my own reflection, that's for damn sure.. So I dodged that bullet.
Next, I don't have a "solid" headboard. I do have a headboard, but it's not at all solid. Hell, it's not even attached to the bed (I found it stands up just fine without me trying to affix it to the damn rails). However, I dodged another Feng Shui bullet by not having it against the window, which is another no-no. My reasoning for having my bed away from the window is that I'm safer during drive-bys and tree-branch hurtling hurricanes. I am actually doing okay in a few areas, like my bed isn't under a beam. That would require some major renovation to fix. Although I assume there is some kind of beam up there or the roof would fall down. So I probably just don't see this. There is, however, a beam in my family room that's probably causing some kind of havoc. Nothing is hanging above my bed. I'm not sure what people would hang over their beds except a mirror (that has never appealed to me for so many reasons). I do have a ceiling fan, but it's just a little over the end of my bed, so hopefully I'm good there. And finally, I don't have a sloped ceiling. Those restrict the regenerative good stuff you get when you sleep. Again, I have one in the family room, but I don't sleep there. Usually. I'm mostly being facetious here (no, ME?), and if you're interested in FS, do check out the article, It's on About.com so there's lots of material. And it caught my eye because I'm actually considering rearranging my room. Now I might just have to check this stuff out.
